The Mr

So I made a start on the Mr's portrait, and I'm at the top of the heads. I'm working bottom up (pattern has been reversed) so I can advance the beadwork - on the Mirrix. It's looking ok so far. I've yet to check against the photo of the pattern.

Anyway here is the progress so far.

I've gotten faster at loading the beads and getting them onto the loom. Am almost at the stage where I can lay out the beads in order without looking at the chart.

I'll likely post again when I get to the top of the second head. Exciting and scary times lay ahead. Thanks for reading and have a good weekend.

The sense of relief is palpable!

So, the recipient of the purse got it today and SHE LOVED IT!!! You can guess the relief I felt knowing that! Not sure why I thought she wouldn't be happy with me, it seems to be a habit of mine! So, I can now present NattyRichiardo to you. Thank you for the challenge, Natty.

Now I can relax!. I have the Mirrix warped up for another portrait - my Husband's present. I'll post a progress photo when I have done something significant. Another thing I have to do is to finalise the pattern for my mum's purse. I'll be adding a design and frame to cover the white sections on the back (late grandmothers' photo). Then I can hopefully use my other loom for that.

Have a great weekend whatever you have planned.

Very happy!

Elena from Mirrix Looms asked me to send a photo of the finished purse to be added to their gallery. Naturally I was happy to oblige!

I posted the purse on Friday afternoon but it won't be picked up till Friday. So as soon as I get the call I'll post the photos here.

In the meantime, I will be making a start on my Husbands present. I need to decide which loom I'll be using then I can warp and make a start...when he's gone to work! :) There probably won't be any progress photos for a while.

Two out of three!

So, I finished the purse yesterday! Rather happy with it but I will reserve myself until the recipient gets it. I won't post any photos just yet, till it's been handed over. But there's not much else to see from the last photo I posted.

I also have this purse that needs finishing. It's for someone who is (and has been) a great friend to my brother. I was debating whether, instead of sewing the sides, I attach lining so that it shows through on the sides. But I'm not sure I would be happy with that. So I think the way to go is sew the sides up and then insert lining. I may need to order some other colours, I'll decide later.

I have two projects lined up. One for the Mr, and the other for my mum. Both loomed (what am I on!). The Mr's birthday is in December and I thought it would be nice to have it done in time for that. But I would have to hide it. But I also want to work on my mum's purse.

I have two looms I could use, so I'll check and see if I can work on them both at the same time. I want to work the purse in one piece, and hoping to do some shaping of sorts. Time to do some reading (bead books!) :)

All fringed!

I finally finished the fringing on Sunday, after having to order some more beads!

So now it's onto the strap. I have finalised the design and intend to start it tonight...despite it being late and me being tired. If I can at least warp and get the first line (or three) on, I'll go to bed happy. I now won't be revealing it till the recipient gets it. Don't want to spoil it entirely. So check back hopefully sooner than soon for the strap and the purse in all its glory :)

One down....almost!

KWhen I last updated the blog, I mentioned I had something on the loom. Well, I finally finished, and cut it off. Over I few days I stitched it down with white mounting board as backing.

Saturday I went out on the hunt for a mount and frame. Unfortunately there was no mount with the right aperture. So, I 'trial framed' using the next size up. I think I'll be going for an ivory mount and black frame. I may try snd go again to see if the have the right size mount.

In the meantime I'm working on the fringe of the purse. What's funny is I had to watch my inw video to remind myself how to do twisted fringe! I've made good progress - onto the first group on the other side. If I knuckle down I could have it finished by the weekend. Then the strap which I need to finalise in my head.

Happy beading :)

Back to it

I had to finish a jumper I was knitting for my cousin. But next on my list was to complete the loomed projects that have been gathering dust in storage. I finished the jumper on Wednesday but today was the first opportunity I had to do any looming. I managed some lines, only to realise I was following the wrong chart!! So I'll have to undo about 3-4 (thankfully short) rows. It's still a little frustrating but could have been worse.

I've found the right chart so here's hoping the baby sleeps quickly and I get some good 2 hours in. It looks to be a late one today. Unfortunately I can't share this project I'm working on (it's a portrait), but I'll let you know the reaction of the recipient once they receive it. Before mid next month would be good so I had best get cracking!

Back to old crafts

I finally found some time to get into crafts again. I'm afraid to say it's mainly yarn - crochet and (very recently) knitting. I seem to have lost a little of my interest in beading. But I'll have to get it back as I have two projects that need completing.

Our addition arrived safely in August, and is absolutely adored by her siblings! She reached the stage of wanting to touch everything long ago so I have to keep yarn out of her reach!

So, at the moment it's crochet and knitting. I learnt to knit aged 10, and even have the book my mum bought mr for my birthday :) So far I've done a hat, which was lost at school but luckily found!! He loves it, as you can see.

And will also be working on a sweater for my youngest.

I joined a group on Facebook where they have a theme every month. January was a crochet-along (CAL) blanket/afghan. And this is what I'm making:

I have until tomorrow to finish it. The yarn is lovely (from Lidl) and I've managed to resist buying more when I've passed through for shopping.

Let me get on with it. I have one more section of colour to do then I need to edge and block it!! Have a good day and thank you for checking in despite the drought!!
