Those pesky ends!

But at least I am almost there! The end is nigh!!
I only showed this blanket in the early stages, but today I finished the crochet part....well the main part. All that remains is the border and getting rid of those pesky ends. Which pesky ends, you may ask? I am dreading it but the effort will be worth it in the end.

I think I'll make a start on them tomorrow, and think about the border as well.

There's (almost) always a good reason

And I have a good one for why I haven't been keeping up with my blogging....at least I hope it's acceptable!

The first month or two of the year were difficult for me. I felt quite ill most of the time, and was lacking energy to even do any beading or looming. Now, that shows you how bad it was! I normally don't go a few weeks without working on something! Anyway, I finally mustered up some energy and started on the bracelet with the swirl pattern. And the afghan for our sitting room.

I have to admit that crochet has somewhat overtaken my beadwork of late! I have my nephews' blanket to finish still - the yarn I needed was out when I went to buy more. I've also started on one for my daughter, with the next being for my son!

Anyway, this was all about explanations! The reason I've not been keeping up to date is this little bug!

We are getting ourselves ready to welcome a little mini-me towards the end of summer :) All is well so far and she is active. The picture from the second scan isn't great as she was lyng on her tummy - showing signs of stubbornness already! And we had the chance to really see the heart beating for a while. Even the two sections were clear. Just amazing!

My eldest is very excited and keeps asking, every time I have an appointment, if we are getting the baby!! I can't wait to see them with her :)

So now I have to plan some more crochet. A blanket and hopefully jumpers and a hat and socks! With so many projects on the go I'm not sure how I'll fit it all in! Time will tell!

For now I will sign off. Work calls then a weekend at my brothers with my mum and minis. Enjoy your weekend and whatever it may bring :)

The pain of it!

My GORGEOUS nephew was born last week (one week today!). I had planned to make him a blanket, and started one sometime in February. You know when you work on something and it doesn't inspire you or make you want to work on it? Well it was one of those. Despite everyone else saying how nice it looked, I just wasn't happy. So I put it away...or rather didn't work on it.

After trawling the Internet and seeing some amazing works, I changed direction!! I'm now much happier with what I'm doing - using tunisian crochet. The issue now is I have found a mistake!, about 8 rows back!! I dropped a stitch. I've already had to undo about 3 rows. So I've decided to just add in the missing stitches and continue. The thought of going back all those rows is too depressing! Open illy it won't affect the design. Still the bottom section so I think it should be fine. This is the last photo I took, I'll post again when I've made more progress.

This crochet

Is really making those beads take a back seat!! This one will, like my bead portraits, slowly reveal itself. Hopefully it looks good :) Use will be decided when its finished.

Now where did I leave those beads??!

Neglect is such a bad word

But that's what has happened with my blog. We were away over the Christmas break, and fell straight back into school and work routines almost immediately on our return!

To be honest I've not done much beading or crochet of recent. I've been feeling a little off for a while, but hopefully I'll perk up soon....well ok, I'm starting to perk up. And here's the results of that.

I bought some accessories for my Mirrix just before Christmas - a spring for size 15 delicas and an extra warp bar. Both are occupying the loom right now. I wanted to try working with 15s and have finally gotten round to it!

I'm liking working on something narrow. First time in a long time! I've had to stop after breaking a needle an not having one small enough to pass through. I guess I'll have to make a trip to a store seeing as I'm no Lilly to order any beads soon.

My other project. Something for our home. My son asked who I'm giving it to! That tells you a lot (including I think he liked it). Here it is. A granny suare/zig zag blanket. It's wider than I had planned so that's good. I'm now working on lengthening it :)

I'm really eager to work on it, despite the width - I've not done something this wide in...well..almost 5yrs!! I'm working out the colour order as. Go. Randomness can be a good thing sometimes :)

It's good to be blogging again. Hopefully I can keep up this year. Have a good day, or what's remaining of it.
